The Department of Physical Education was established in the year 2008 and dedicated in the name of legendary Major Dhyanchand, known as the wizard of Hockey. The department is having Mission with a Vision of High quality, Excellent teaching, interdisciplinary research , career preparation and development of cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains in physical education and sports by providing a Comprehensive Physical Education programme by using human potential which prepares the significant, qualified and specialized personnel in the field of physical education and sport. The department is also providing not only indoor and outdoor sports facilities but also yoga education to the students. The Department offers various degree courses: B.P.E.S., B.P.Ed., M.P.Ed., MA (Yoga) & Ph.D .

They strive to cultivate lifelong health habits, character values, and unifying respect for diverse cultures across the disciplines and to integrate physical and mental activities into daily life, enhancing individual capabilities through research and innovative practices.
The department strives to offer student-centered and well-designed academic programs in physical education by designing a 21st-century curriculum and academic culture based on a multi-disciplinary approach through Ed-Tech driven pedagogies, Andragogy, Interdisciplinary and Sustainable Environment as per global demand for skilled human resources to make the nation proud.
The achievements of Major Dhyan Chand Dept. of Physical Education attest to the unwavering determination and devotion Prof. Sandeep Kumar, a young and dynamic teacher with God gifted administrative abilities has been heading and leading the department by example.
The department of Physical Education & Yogic Sciences has a faculty of qualified, dedicated, sincere and hardworking teachers who have been putting in their best efforts for the development of the department. Most of them, being the alumni of world-renowned institutes in the field such as L.N.I.P.E. (Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education) Gwalior, Banaras Hindu University, Lucknow Christian College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (DSVV), Haridwar & Degree College of Physical Education (HVPM), Amravati impart a stamp of class to this group and Department.
We have lecture theatres with well-equipped ICT tools, seminar halls, laboratories, conference room, indoor and outdoor activities hall/ ground and ICT enabled classrooms.
