Swami Vivekanand Subharti University is a University under section 2(f) of
the University Grant Commission (U.G.C.) Act, 1956 having been set up under the Swami
Vivekanand Subharti Vishwavidhaylaya, Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam,2008(U.P.Act No.29
of 2008)as passed by Uttar Pradesh Legislature and and assented by the H.E. Governer
of Uttar Pradesh in September 2008.
The University has got 14 constituent colleges at present which provide higher
education in almost all the disciplines like Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Paramedical,
Pharmacy, Naturopathy, Engineering, Management, Law, Journalism, Education, Art
and Sciences,Fine Arts & Fashion Design, Hotel Management, Security & Intelligence,
thus creating of high calibre and excellence, academically & professionally professionals.
The University has been establised under the aegis of Subharti K.K.B. Charitable
Trust, Meerut,which has acquired a commendable record of service in the field of
education,health care,and social welfare.The main campus of the University is in
the National Capital Region strategically situated on National Highway-58,Meerut
Bypass Road,Meerut.The campus, aptly called Subhartipuram,is spread over a sprawling
area of almost 200 acres constituting magnificent buildings,lush green
lawns and an atmosphere vibrant with over 5000 people,determined to make this
Jewel in the Crown Of The Nation, shine bright.
The establishment of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, at Meerut, has formed an
important land-mark in the field of Higher Education in this country and particularly
in the State of U.P. This is the creation of a great visionary Dr. Atul Krishna, the
founder President of Subharti KKB Charitable Trust, Meerut, a renowned Surgeon &
a great Nationalist in the true sense. The University came into existence on 5th
September 2008 by UP Act No. 29 of 2008 and letter of Authorisation issued by the
U.P. Government on 14th September 2008 and under the present Presidentship.
- The University has been named after a Great Son of India, Swami Vivekanand, who
was born in Calcutta on January 12, 1863. He is considered a key figure in the introduction
of Vedant and Yog in Europe and America; and is also credited with raising interfaith
awareness, bringing Hinduism to the status of a world religion during the end of
the 19th Century. Vivekanand is considered to be a major force in the revival of
Hinduism in modern India. He is best known for his inspiring speech beginning with
“Sisters and brothers of America”, through which he introduced Hinduism at the Parliament
of the World’s Religions at Chicago in 1893. Swami Vivekanand is regarded as one
of India’s foremost nation-builders. His teachings influenced the thinking of other
national leaders and philosophers, like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash
Chandra Bose, Aurobindo Ghosh and Radhakrishnan, and less said than realised, the
founder of The Subharti Movement, Dr. Atul himself.
- The President of our Trust, Dr. Mukti Bhatnagar, a versatile, dynamic and multitalented
personality, is a Physician by profession, with an incredible blend of head and heart,is also dedicated
to the cause of education and committed to the fulfilment of our motto “ ARISE, WAKE UP
& STOP NOT TILL THE GOAL IS REACHED”. Dr. Mukti Bhatnagar, Professor of Medicine
has been decorated with U.P. Ratna in Sept. 2008. She was honored with Mahila Gaurav Samman in March
2009 & Rajiv Gandhi Shiromani Award on Women's Day in August 2009 at New Delhi.
- Under section 11(i) of the Act, the Trust appointed Dr. G.C. Srivastava as Chancellor
of this University. Dr. Srivastava {IAS (Retd.)} held important assignments like
Chief Secretary, Govt. of Goa; Member Secretary, Twelfth Finance Commission in the
Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India; Chairman, Tariff Commission; Vice Chairman,
Central Administrative Tribunal; and Secretary, Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
The University has completed almost 4 years under his able guidance and is poised to attain
an excellent international status in the near future.
- Prof. Manzoor Ahmed is honoured and privileged to be appointed as the second Vice-Chancellor
of this University.
- The University is spread over a large campus of over 200 acres having magnificent
buildings and a majestic array of its constituent colleges, residential complexes
for teaching and non-teaching staff and hostels for undergraduate and postgraduate
students. Besides, a huge Central Library with more than 51,000 books and 385 journals,
it has a 1023 bedded multi-speciality hospital with 151 critical care beds, equipped with all modern medical facilities.
All diagnostic, therapeutic rehabilitative, operative and medical care is available to the people at a very negligible cost, practically
free.
- The University has following constituent colleges:
- Subharti Dental College:
It is a state-of-the art Dental College with modern facilities for teaching & training
of its students. The college provides advanced Oro-dental care and cure to its
patients coming to the hospital and also at their door step.It is recognised by D.C.I.
and Central Government. The College has more than 75 experienced and skilled faculty to
teach B.D.S. & .M.D.S. students and offers Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.) course
of 5 years duration with an annual intake of 100 students & Master of Dental Surgery
(M.D.S.) of 3 years duration in 8 different specialties. The college, also has a collaboration
for student exchange programme with Tuft’s University, Boston, USA, University of
Florida, USA & also has IGNOU study circle for Implantology course. Actively involved
in multiple research projects, various departments of the college have published
more than 100 papers in various International & Indian journals in the current year.
The college is headed by Prof. Dr Nikhil Srivastava BDS, MDS (Pedodontist) who has more than 20 International
and National publications to his credit and has contributed a number of chapters
as author and coauthor in different books of Paediatric Dentistry. He has presented several papers
as Guest Speaker & has been Guest Faculty and examiner to International Universities
in Mauritius & Nepal.
He has been to Zambia, Malawi, Cambodia, Thailand & Congo for the treatment camps
as specialist dental surgeon and recently represented India as Team Leader of Group
Study Exchange Program to Texas ( USA ) 2010. He is a Paul Harris Fellow & has been
nominated for the award of The Fellow of International College of Dentists 2011.
He was the Editor of journal of IDA “Impression” for 4 years and won BEST JOURNAL
AWARD in 2004 at National Level. He has also served Indian Society of Pedodontics
& Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD) as Executive member for two terms ( 2001-02 & 2002-03)
and as Treasurer(2004-06).
- Subharti Medical College:
It is headed by Prof. Dr. Ajai Kumar Asthana MBBS,MS (Anatomy). Dr. A.K. Asthana received the Best Educationist
Award in June 2009 by Indian Solidarity Council of India. He was also invited to
deliver a talk on Genetic Disorders in Developments of Human Nervous System at Harvard
Medical School USA in June 2009.The College offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses
having an intake capacity of 150 students in MBBS, 69 in MD and MS courses, 50 in M.Sc.
(Medical), 40 in M.Sc. (MIT/MLT) and Ph.D. course. It has a total strength of
625 students and 147 faculty members apart from senior and junior resident. The
faculty regularly attends and participates in various National and International
conferences and has presented more than 100 scientific papers during the year. 100 papers
in National Journals and 47 papers in International journals have been published
by the teachers of the Medical College during the year. Dr. Sweta Grover attended
a fellowship in Dermatology at Hamburg Medical Institute, Germany and was awarded
a Gold Medal. Dr. Poonam Elhance attended a training fellowship in Neuropathology
and Surgical Pathology at CMC Vellore and Dr. Vikas Trivedi has been awarded Global
Outreach Educational Scholarship Award of Scoliosis Research Society, USA to name
a few.
- Subharti College of Physiotherapy
It is headed by Prof. Dr. R.K. Meena. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses
having an annual intake capacity of 60 students in Bachelor of Physiotherapy(BPT) and
40 in Master of Physiotherapy(MPT) courses(10 sheets each in orthopedics, neurology, Cardiopulmonary & Sports Physiotherapy ).
The college is well equiped with state of the art laboratories, clinics, library, teaching facilities
& a highly qualified teaching faculty. The workshops & seminars are a regular feature of the college, & academic activities.
- Subharti Nursing College:
It is headed by Capt. Ms.Geeta Parwanda. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses
having an intake capacity of 100 students in GNM, 40 in B.Sc. (Nursing), 20 in Post
B.Sc. (Nursing) courses and 10 MSc.(Nursing). It has a total strength of 570 students and more than 45 faculty
members. Our nursing students actively participated in Trained Nursing
Association Conference 2008 in Mumbai with Poster presentation on ‘Alzheimer Disease’
in Seminar on 'Geriatric Medicine’ in AIIMS, New Delhi.Capt. Geeta Parvanda the
Principal has been nominated for ‘Rashtriya Vidya Saraswati Puruskaar’ in IIEM,
N. Delhi. One of its faculty, Dr. Preetha has been selected for higher education
in Melbourne University, Australia.
- Subharti Institute of Technology & Engineering:
It is headed by Dr. Jayant Shekhar. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses
having intake capacity of 360 students in B.Tech.& 90 in M.Tech. It has got a total
strength of 1200 students and 57 faculty members. 5 workshops and two National level
Technical Fests were organized by the Institute. 4 research papers have been published
in International Journals by the faculty of Institute.
- Subharti College of Higher Education:
It is headed by Dr. Mohan Gupta. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses
having intake capacity of 60 students in MBA, 120 in BBA, 180 in BCA, 60 in B. Lib.,
25 in M. Lib., 10 in M. Phil. (Lib. Sc.), 10 in M. Phil. (Edu.), 200 in B.Ed., 50
in B.P. Ed., 50 in B.P.E., 60 in B.H.M., 30 in D.H.M. and 200 in B.A.. It has a
total strength of around 1000 students and over two scores of faculty members.
- Subharti Institute of Law:
It is headed by Dr. Vaibhav Bharti. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses
having an intake capacity of 120 students in B.A.LL.B., 60 in LL.M.,20 in L.L.M.(Three year evening course), 10 in M. Phil.
(Law) and 10 in Ph.D. It has got a total strength of about 200 students over a dozen
senior 12 faculty members. The teachers of the Institute have attended various National
& International Conferences hosted by Addis Ababa University, Lucknow University
& other educational institutes. Dr. Vaibhav Bharti delivered a guest lecture at Amrawati University
in Aug 2009. He has also extended his professional legal consultancy for Ministry of
Health, Ethiopia for National Human Rights Commission, and has contributed significantly in the curriculum
the development of Institute of Human Rights Studies in Ethiopia.
- Subharti College of Journalism & Mass. Comm.:
It is headed by Mr. R. P. Singh. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses
having intake capacity of 50 students in B.J.M.C. and has 50 in M.J.M.C., 50 in P.G.D.J.M.C.
It has got total strength of about 40 students and 04 faculty members. The main
facilities provided by the Institute to students are Interaction with renowned media
professionals, online training in Electronic Media, Active Journalism training in
Print Media, Reporting Trips, Educational Tours, Workshops & Seminars; under unique
infrastructure like production control room, Studio, High Tech Video Editing facilities,
Still Photography Lab & News Room Setup. The Principal of the College Mr. Rajendra
Prakash Singh, a noted media personality, has worked with leading organizations
like Doordarshan, Zee News, MH-1 channels & Times of India before joining subharti.
- Subharti Institute of Fine Arts & Fashion Design:
It is headed by Prof. Pintu Mishra. It is being developed by its renowned professionals in the field with experienced faculty members offering courses in B.F.A., M.FA, B.Sc. Animation, M.Sc. Animation, and Ph.D. in Painting, D.F.A. & C.C.A.
- Kharvel Subharti College of Pharmacy:
It is headed by Dr. (Prof.) U.K. Singh. It offers Diploma, undergraduate (B.Pharm)
and postgraduate (M.Pharm) courses having intake capacity of 60 students in Diploma,
60 in B. Pharm and 10 for each discipline of M. Pharm (Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology,
Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy) . It has got total strength of 92 students
and 14 faculty members. Dr. (Prof.) U.K. Singh has 25 yrs of teaching experience
in prestigious institutions such as K.N.M.I.P.E.R., Modinagar, IFTM, Moradabad,
KIET School of Pharmacy, Ghaziabad and he has guided M.Pharm students and Ph.D scholars.
- Subharti Institute of Security & Intelligence Management:
It is headed by Brigadier P. P. Toor. It offers courses in PG Diploma for Security
Officer, Diploma for Security Manager, Certificate Course for Security Supervisors
and Training Program for Security Guards. With these innovative training programmes,
the Security Personnel not only handle physical security requirements, but also
handle situations that call for intelligence and judgement i.e. in First Aid, Fire
Fighting, Disaster Management, Forensic Science, evidence etc.
